Reducing Eye Bags and Looking Younger!

We have all experienced it in one form or another. Either from a late night film marathon, a book we could not put down, or a party that had wholly too much alcohol and went on far too long. The ultimate result of these experiences is the inevitable huge black bags that attach themselves to our eyes. Everyone knows that eye bags and darkish circles are to looking good as etch & sketch is to art, but there are both natural and cosmetic things we could do to lessen the seriousness of this common "eye-sore".

First off, let's find out why black circles and puffy eyes happen. The condition can be caused by many common factors, here are but a few:

- Dehydration - when dehydrated you begin storing water, which can often be visible by puffy dark-coloured circles near the eyes.
- Diet issues - excessive alcohol or salty foods before sleeping may cause those unpleasant eye bags.
- Allergies - pollen and dust could cause pudgy eyes and create dark-coloured circles.
- High blood pressure - this pushes fluids into the tissues round the eyes.
- Diseases - thyroid or kidney issues can have a long-lasting effect on dark circles and distended areas around the eyes.
- Heredity - If your mom and pop were known for having dark circles, you are probably going to have the same issues.

There are a few "sans cosmetics" ways to get rid of unpleasant eye bags and make you look fresh, even considering all of the above issues:

- Frozen Green Tea Bags - green tea has caffeine and other anti-inflammatory properties that help to recharge your eyes. Boil the bags to release the anti inflammatory properties of the green tea. Freeze them right after boiling for forty five minutes or so. Wrap the tea bags in some paper towel or light cotton to avoid refrigerator burns on the delicate eye skin. At that point it's a straightforward case of placing the tea bags on your eyes for fifteen to 20 minutes. This should reduce puffy eyes and dark circles, and leave you looking refreshed.
- Thin Potato or Apple Slices - place the thin slices over the eyes for ten to fifteen minutes. Potatoes will help dark circles and apples contain Pectin, which aids in anti-oxidation.
- Drink lots of water - this will keep your body hydrated during the day and lessen the seriousness of dull circles and puffy areas round the eyes.
- Peptide-rich products - peptides are known to minimize and sometimes erase darkened circles. You'll find peptides in several beauty offerings available in the cosmetics store.

Now if you are in a real hurry, late for a meeting, or scheduled to have a sit down with the Pope over tea and cookies, occasionally boiling tea bags just isn't in the cards. In life, timing doesn't always follow our best laid plans. In this case, the best solution that will at least disguise the fact that you've been burning the midnight oil are beauty products. Make up is not just a female solution, it is for fellows too. If it is done correctly nobody will ever know you have used it.

There are one or two tips you need to use to hide the offending darkness. Ladies are most definitely aware of these tricks I am sure but for the guys, effectively covering up grey circles in an emergency is definitely a worth-while lesson.

Firstly,, you need the equipment:

- a secure knowledge of your manliness
- a sincere desire to NOT seem like a half sucked orange on a crucial day
- powder foundation
- liquid lift/concealer
- light talcum powder
- 1 box of tissues

*Fellas, with a lack of immediate access to your girlfriend/Mom/sister to help, pick cosmetics in shades as close to your skin tone as possible. Also, don't forget to have it all available, in case of any emergency press meetings or visiting dignitaries. :)

Now for the procedure (this takes about 5 minutes once you've mastered it) :

1. You will want a powder foundation close to your own skin tone. Spread that evenly over your face with a clean blotter, being cautious not to use too much. You are endeavoring to get an even skin tone over the entire face without looking like a circus clown from hell. If you believe you could have used too much, just dab your face with a tissue until it appears to be more natural. Don't forget to dab, don't wipe. Practice will make this easier.
2. Next, take the concealer and dot under under the eyes where it's the most black and frightful (only a small amount is required here, two to four dots under each eye will do)
3. Gently dab the concealer with your ring finger till it begins to blend in and seem natural. Don't go at it too hard and please don't wipe at all or else you will wipe away your good work. Simply press it in gently till the under eye area looks more mixed.
4. When you have made the foundation and concealer look natural enough, with a brand new and clean make up sponge, dab a touch of talcum powder over the whole face and blend it in to erase any sign that make up was there in the 1st place. The powder is the "James Bond, Stealth, Secret Weapon" of make-up. This process will set the make up and prevent the creases and lines that concealers can intensify.

Voila, in around 5 minutes you can appear like you have slept ten hours a night for the last 5 years, and that you have ingested nothing but broccoli, apples, grilled chicken and Perrier since you were 5 years old.

The make-up will likely be a final resort for the gentlemen, and that is OK, since it would be thought of as only a last ditch effort in the event of an emergency. Having said that, try all of the other methods whenever you start to look knackered and your eyes start to form dark-coloured circles. You could be stunned at how well the natural treatments can work. It certainly beats surgery!
